How to fit a door handle lock.
Make these marks on the narrow part and on both outer sides of the door being as accurate as possible.
Use the allen key provided in the door handle kit to lock and secure the faceplate.
The handle spindle and lock tumbler are attached to the outside plate and will pull away with it.
Fitting the door handle comes after all the fiddly work but it still requires a good eye.
Turn the key so the locking bolt protrudes from the lock and hold the door against the door frame.
Installing a door handle is a relatively easy diy project.
Install the lock body and screw on the faceplate.
Line up the spindle on the back of the handle with the slot in the latch sliding any mechanisms up or down as needed to fit the handle onto the door.
Grasp the handles on either side of the door and pull out gently.
If your new door handle attaches to the door at a point below the lower borehole like ours you may need to drill another hole to accommodate.
First mark out the place where the strike plate has to be fitted.
Using masking tape to secure the template to the door make marks on the template showing where you will drill.
Insert the exterior part of the lock into the door by feeding the long metal piece through the opening in the center of the bolt.
The inside handle will drop away.
Check the keyhole for fit from both sides of the door.
Slide the faceplate over the door handle and snap it into place.
Attach the door handle kit s template to the door.
Use these marks to position the striking plate on the inside surface of the door frame.
With the bolt out and held against the door frame mark the position of the striking plate and the depth of the bolt box.
After you ve fitted the lock in the door you need to fit the strike plate to the door frame.
Push the striker and lock bolt from the door by sticking the screwdriver into the door face hole and pushing it toward the edge of the door.
Insert the new bolt into the opening on the edge of the door and fasten it to the door with the provided screws.
In this kit the hole for the allen key is at the bottom of the faceplate.
