Use a pair of vice grips or locking pliers to hold the garage door in place.
How do you put a garage door back on track.
The first thing to do is hit the door button.
Once you locate where the wheels on the door are jumping.
Open the door while holding the roller against the track.
The point where the roller is nearest the track is probably the point where it jumped the track.
Ensure that the vertical parts of the track remain straight.
Partially open the door and until the damaged track is lined up with one of the rollers.
You can check this by using a carpenter s level.

Open the door manually.
Locate where the roller popped out of the track.
If this doesn t work proceed to the next step.
Reach overhead and pull the rope that releases the door from the opener.
If simply hitting the button does not work you will have to take more action.
Manually open the door.
You need to check the release handle and make sure that it is on the track.
Disconnect the garage door from the opener.
With that working properly you have successfully put your garage door back on track.
Some units will actually reconnect themselves but this is not typically the case.
Pull the outside of the track open with another pair of pliers to put the wheels back on the track.
Use a rubber mallet to tap the edge of the roller back into the track.
Top roller is the easiest garage door wheel to put back into place.
This can be an easy fix and requires no tools.
Spray lubricant onto the tracks for smooth up and down movement of your garage door and for increased useful life.
Then knock the track back into position with a rubber mallet.
