Panels can be installed directly to studs or on top of an existing sub surface such as plywood or drywall.
How to install tin roof panels.
Take your first sheet of metal and place it on the roof so that it overhangs the edge at least 3 4 in 1 9 cm.
You may want a slightly larger overhang on one side such as where the door is located to.
These will stop the entry of rain wind and pests.
Secure the slats with 3 inch metal to wood screws.
Add the metal panels.
The washer under the screw head should seal to the surface of the panel without bulging or shifting.
The panels that make up the roof fit together like pieces of a puzzle snug and tight.
Finally install the metal panels image 1 placing metal closures on the top and sides of the roof structure to hold the panels in place.
Always begin working at the point with the longest peak to eave distance.
Secure the screws but do not overtighten.
Close or seal off the ends with a wood or plastic strip under the panel at each end.
If you are installing over an existing surface mark the studs with a pencil before installing panels.
Secure them with clip fasteners image 2 not screws penetrating the metal panels themselves.
Place them directly onto purlins that are attached to the roof trusses beginning on the outside edge.
Install the roofing screws vertically along each rib in the panel.
Add at least 4 inches to each side of your roof measurement to add an overhang with your tin panels.
Lay the slats at 2 foot intervals length wise as you work from the roof s bottom and upward.
Install slat boards to the roof so that you can easily attach the new tin.
