Hidden door hinges also referred to as concealed or european hinges keep the knuckles or hinges hidden from view.

Put the hinge on the hinge side of the cabinet door where you marked from the bottom and arrange it so it s in the position it needs to be installed in. Turn it one way for the door and one way. However when the hinge is hidden its age never becomes an issue. Place your new hinge over the location of the old one.

Cut a piece of baseboard to that length making a 45 degree miter cut along the end covering the wide gap between the door and jamb. Apply wood glue to the back of the piece and tack it in place as shown with a pneumatic brad gun and 18 gauge brads. Remove the hinges from the door. Remove the door from the opening by removing the screws in the hinges with a drill driver.

Knuckles have a tendency to distract from the look of the cabinets especially if the hinges are outdated. Place the hinge on the door and mark the distance from the edge. Use a pencil to mark around the hinge so you know where you need to bore your hole. Place the hinge template which is a small reversible rectangular plate on the corner of the door.

To drill the flat bottomed hole for the cup you ll need a 35 millimeter forstner bit. Insert a center punch into a hole about 2 inches up from the corner. Remove the doorknob and striker plate from the side of the door. Drill the remaining cup holes.
