Detach the door from the automatic opener by pulling the overhead string to disengage the opener.
If you are outside the door when this occurs you will need some assistance to move the door manually.
Note that locating the jamming wheels may be a challenging task for a diy first timer thus need to call for technical support.
Once the door is open observe to locate the wheels that are getting off the track.
These include a wrench hammer pliers wood blocks or saw horses and some sort of lubricating substance like spray or even cooking oil.
Disengage the garage door from the opener by pulling down on the emergency pull cord to release the door trolley from the opener carriage.
Open the door partially so that one of the detached rollers is in line with the trouble spot on the track.
Gather materials needed for putting a garage door back on its tracks.
Now you will be able to open the door manually.
Locate the jamming wheels.
Reach overhead and pull the rope that releases the door from the opener.
Press the wall control button or remote so that the opener completes its close.
Open the door manually.
Keep it propped open while you fix the chain.
If you find that your garage door opener chain falls off the track on which it has been placed you will need to put it back up and then tighten the chain to stop this happening in the future.
Close the door and open it again if you do not immediately spot the jamming wheels.
