Cinder blocks are less expensive to work with than poured concrete in home construction projects but they are not as strong you can make up the difference by spending a little more to reinforce the blocks a project that is still less expensive than using just poured concrete.

Press the first block a corner block into the mortar.
To build a cinder block wall start by digging a hole for the foundation and reinforcing it by placing steel rebar into each corner.
Don t let the block slide out of place as that could displace the mortar.

Be careful to create a 3 8 inch mortar joint on its underside.
Next fill the hole with concrete and let it dry overnight.
Step 1 set out the first row of cinder blocks without mortar and adjust and move your wall as needed until you are satisfied with the layout.

Then attach the first row of cinder blocks to the concrete with mortar to build the base of your wall.
If the area where you are planning to use the cinder blocks is already covered with a concrete pad you can easily build a cinder block wall right on top of the concrete.
How to do it.
Lay out the path of the block measuring and marking its corners using your tape measure and lumber crayon.
Lay out your concrete block in a dry run spacing it with 3 8 inch plywood spacers.
Then snap reference lines.
