In general poured concrete basement walls that are 8 feet tall or less and have no more than 7.
The taller the wall and the greater the soil pressure the greater the amount of steel that s called for.
Walls thinner than 250mm can incur concrete compaction problems due to the congestion of reinforcement particularly near openings.
The thickness of wall in no case should be less than 100mm.
While a minimum thickness of 150mm for a wall is possible 180 250mm is recommended to aid detailing and construction.
In plain concrete wall transverse steel is not required.
