Due to this being a tee diverter the diverter is located within the bathtub faucet so you will want to start by trying to clean the faucet. Turn the diverter handle counter clockwise to restore flow to the tub spout. Double outlet diverter valves initially carry water through the bathtub faucet too. The diverter with 2 valves each in the shape of an l pushes the water upward to the shower arm and out the shower head.

Find a baggy that the faucet fully fits in and fill it with distilled white vinegar you should let it soak for about 24 hours. It controls hot and cold but it also controls up to the showerhead or down to the spout. This 2 valve diverter can be located in the center of a faucet that adjusts temperature with a single dial turned to the left for hot water and to the right for cold or it can be set between the taps of a 2 tap faucet. Turning the diverter counter clockwise will usually return the water flow back to the bathtub only.

Typical triple outlet diverter designs can be turned 180º to allow the mixed water to flow out from the showerhead. Tubs with separate hot and cold handles may have a three valve diverter located between them. On the other hand if the shower has a three valve diverter focus on the middle pipe.
